New Supervisor/Intern regulation 1/24/06
The regulation changes stated below passed the Rules & Regulations Legislative Committee on January 24, 2006 and was sent to the Secretary of State for her signature and published in the CT Law Journal where it is now the law. Review the history of the change & general information below, and view a copy of the drafted text in our October 2004 newsletter which can be found in our newsletter archives.
These changes/clearifications deal with both the intern & supervisor keeping a log for each inspection and containing: client's name, address of property inspected, description of areas inspected, indication of whether the suppervision was either direct or indirect, and the supervisor's initials and license number.
These Regulations state that only one intern may be present during the direct supervision requirement period at any one site. Only one intern may receive credit towards their 100 inspections requirement for any home inspection conducted at any one site.
The licensed supervisor shall: accept legal responsibility for all home inspection work performed by such intern, including all resulting written inspection reports, inspection review reports,
consulting reports and work product by signing and certifying that each report has been reviewed and is in compliance with the Home Inspection Standards of Practice.
There are a few other requirements of the supervisor included in these regulations. A copy of the full text of these proposals are published in our October 2004 newsletter and may be viewed in the newsletter archives.
