Recent Happenings & Previous Postings:

December 12, 2007: The Licensing Board attended an all day workshop with the PSI, the exam testing vendor. The board reviewed the entire item bank of wuestions and multiple choice answers. The board was very pleased with the majority od questions and regected about 20 which were deleted from the exam item bank.

November 8, 2007: The Licensing Board held its last scheduled 2007 Board Meeting & passed a motion to change and increase the "Continuing Education" requirements for licensed home inspectors, establish a prorating requirement for CEs for newly licensed inspectors and change the length of intern permits and incorporate a prorated CE requirement for interns upon their first permit renewal. This proposal is at step 1 of a 23 step process before it would become law. At step 12 if it goes that far will be a public hearing on these changes. We will keep everyone informed of any scheduled hearing.

NOTE: This proposal became law on March 7, 2008. On October 1, 2007 a Public Hearing on the proposed Well requirements in the plumbing section of the Standards of Practice was held at the DCP 165 Capitol Ave, Hartford. 10 am Room 119. All testimony submitted was in favor of the proposed changes. The DCP decided to procede and go forward with recommendations to the legislative Rules & Regulations committee to adopted this amendment. When these changes are adopted & become law, we will post it here.

EXAM INFO: Psychological Services, Inc. (PSI) is the exam vendor. Their present contract with the State expired in June 2007 and was renewed for a 2 year period.
The board was informed at the May 4, 2006 Licensing Board meeting by Mr. Richard Hurlburt-Director of Licensing at the DCP that PSI never made the changes as noted below and would implement them now as soon as possible.

PSI, the home inspector exam provider was instructed by the licensing board at a 2 day workshop in October 2004 to make changes in regards to policies, procedures and content of questions. Effective March 1, 2005 the home inspection exam will be a closed book exam. It will continue to contain 100 questions but the questions will no longer be code specific. Questions will be formulated for a home inspector and not a code official. PSI will develope new questions to be incorporated into the exam from a list of topics that the board supplied.

9/24
